Olympic Quilt
Mrs Wakefield came and showed us the quilt that has been made by Defford Quilters. The quilt is being sent to the Olympic Games and will given to one of the countries taking part.
Mr Small came and gave us all a wonderful talk about his week long trek in Equador. The trek was called "The Avenue of Volcanoes". The trek included a climb up one of the world's highest active volcanoe's - Cotopaxi. Cotopaxi is 5897m high. Mr Small had to set out at midnight to complete the long trek up Cotopaxi to avoid climbing in the day. The glacier can start to melt the ice in the daytime and this can cause crevasses to open up!
We all watched a video showing us the stunning seanery from the top of the volcanoe and then he went on to show us the special equipment he needed to take with him. Mrs Nortney kindly volunteered to try on all the special equipment. Doesn't she look great!
Mr Small raised over £4000 for his chosen charity - a fantastic achievement.
